Bolt seals vs Cable seals
Author: B-Sealed Date Posted:25 May 2015
What is the difference between bolt seals and cable seals?
Bolt seals and Cable seals are high security seals that provide some barrier to deter opportunistic theft. Both seals are not easily removed by hand and usually requiring tools such as bolt cutters or saws for removal. They're commonly used for long distance transportation (especially on container doors) and gates. Cable seals are great in the event the locking holes do not line up or require to loop through multiple points.
How do you choose which bolt seals or cable seals to use?
We have bolt seals that are suitable for both domestic local transportation and overseas export containers. For overseas export, the ultra-high security seals are certified to the lastest ISO 17712 standards and also C-TPAT compliant.
Only cable seals from 3.5mm diameter cable and upwards will satisfy the ISO 17712 and C-TPAT compliance.
What's important or unique to look out for?
Some of the bolt seals have anti-spin feature, where the pin cannot spin. This feature is to stop tampering for the seals.
Some of the bolt seals not only have serial number printed on the barrel, but also on the pin.
What situations influence choosing one product over another?
Check if you plan to use the seals for domestic use or overseas use.
